CURRICULUM FOCUS

This week in Writing, we are beginning our shared development of our class persuasive text.

VOCABULARY

Persuasive: Able to convince or influence others effectively.

Opinion: A personal view or judgement on a particular subject.

Convince: To cause someone to believe or accept a particular idea.

Arguments: Statements or reasons put forward to persuade or explain in order to convince someone to believe or accept a particular idea.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

With your child, using the structure included, create a persuasive text on any topic you wish to persuade someone on. 

Examples:

• Why we should have a pet at home.
• Why bedtime should be midnight
• Why cereal is for dinner not breakfast.
