Parent's Association

New Members Needed

This year we are seeking new members and additional support for our Parent's Association. Many of our members retired at the end of last year so it is time for new parents to come along and help us maintain the great work of the past association members.

If you are able to support any of the events or activities for the year or would be willing to join the committee, then please let our Principal, Verona Gridley, know.

Our first meeting for the year will be held in the staffroom on Tuesday, 20 February, at 7.00pm. Everyone is welcome to attend with no obligation to join the committee.

We currently need to fill the roles of:

  • Chairperson
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer (please note that the treasurer is not required to attend meetings)

PARENT'S ASSOCIATION CHARTER

The purpose of the Parents Association is to support the school community of St John’s Primary School so that our students and their families flourish.

This purpose is achieved through Building Community:

  • Social Activities - Providing opportunities for all members of our school community to connect with one another, form friendships and feel a sense of welcome and belonging
  • Outreach - Providing care, meals and assistance so that all members of our school community feel supported
  • Fundraising - Enabling the school to increase their resources or complete projects for the benefit of the students
  • Enrichment - Supporting opportunities for parent and student growth

MEMBERSHIP

All St John’s parents and guardians are welcome to participate in the Parents Association, to attend meetings, events and volunteer to support any events or activities.  The positions of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer, are subject to election at the AGM or beginning of the year meeting. Working together we make the important work of the Association possible.

RELATIONSHIPS

As a part of St John’s Primary School, the PA operates in collaboration with our Parish, School Principal, School Advisory Council, Parents, Staff, Students and the wider community. The PA works within the school values of Honesty, Compassion, Creativity and Respect.

MEETINGS

PA meetings are characterised by trust, respect, open mindedness, impartiality and confidentiality.  They are held monthly, both online and onsite, beginning in February with the AGM held annually in November. Additional meetings of sub-committees may be required to plan for events or complete projects; results of these meetings are shared at the regular PA meeting.

FINANCE AND FUNDRAISING

A core objective of the PA is to coordinate fundraising activities for the benefit of the school. The PA relies upon the generosity of the school community and treats funds raised with utmost respect.  The budget determines fundraising goals and expenses such that the funds allocated to long and short term school needs can be established and timely donations made.  Budget information, including reconciliations, are communicated to the school community periodically throughout the year including in the AGM reports.
