Collingwood Alternative School

I would like to formally introduce myself to you all. My name is Melanie Singleton and I have started this year at Collingwood Alternative School (CAS) in the role of Assistant Principal. I have worked in education for the past 15 years and have taught in both primary and secondary school settings.

It has been a privilege to join the team at CAS. The teachers here are hardworking, caring and filled with expertise and experience. The students this term have had the opportunity to engage in some fantastic incursions and excursions.

Some of our Term 1 learning opportunities include:

The students went on an excursion to learn how to use Adobe Fusion to design and 3D print fidget spinners.

Students have been going to Youth Yarra Services this term to learn how to DJ.

Bev Lee, a volunteer, comes to CAS once a week to teach the students textiles. They are currently creating bags and pieces of clothing. The students really enjoy Bev’s expertise and warmth and are learning a lot in her sessions.

Warm regards,

Mel
