OFF TO A GREAT START
YEAR 12 KICKOFF AT GUMBUYA WORLD
By Daniel Dema (11 & 12 Year Level Coordinator )
On the first day back we went on a day trip to Gumbuya World. We were blessed with beautiful weather.
The Year 12 students were able to enjoy a wide variety of rides, both on water and on land, with the water slides and the Skyloop being some of the favourites.
The day out was also a great opportunity for staff and students to reconnect and share about their holidays.
We look forward to a school year filled with personal growth, meaningful conversations and productive collaboration. Our prayer is for our students to enjoy coming to school everyday, whether it's fun days out or serious study sessions, we hope every day at school becomes something to look forward to.
Here'sto a year of learning, growing, and making great memories together!
PREPS SHINE ON THEIR FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
By Zayda Doidge (Prep Teacher)
The Preps stole the spotlight on Monday as they embarked on their first day of school. The air was filled with excitement, and bright smiles adorned the faces of our youngest learners. Students and families alike were overjoyed to explore the brand-new Prep classrooms where they echoed with the cheerful voices of eager learners.
The day unfolded with warmth and enthusiasm, as hugs and kisses were exchanged before diving into the first lesson. A captivating story about starting school and playing a get-to-know-you game eased any first-day jitters but also allowed us to familiarize ourselves with the names of our newfound friends.
Engaging activities, from exploring the new Primary building and playground to creating vibrant dot paintings and crafting 'First Day of Prep' crowns, added a creative flair to the day. Students shared what they were excited to learn including ‘learning to read, write, spell and play sport’.
What an incredible first day of school! The positive energy and camaraderie were palpable throughout the campus. As we reflect on this memorable day, we eagerly look forward to the rest of the year and the countless opportunities for growth, learning, and fun that it holds.
PAST STUDENT PANEL 2024
BHCS Alumni Ben C, Lili G Melody M, Cody N and Isaac S were members of our 2024 Past Student Panel today for our Year 12 audience.
They shared their inspiring career stories so far as well as their memories of life during Year 12 and how they made the choices they did. Their decisions to go overseas, try a career, go straight to university as well as getting to grips with adulthood gave our students pearls of wisdom for their journey ahead.
The themes that ran through these stories was the need to be flexible and adaptable, that keeping a work life balance is important during Year 12 and that curiosity is vital for what is possible after school. Thanks again to Ben, Lili, Melody, Cody and Isaac!
