WELCOME TO 2024

BY PETER CLIFFE (Principal)

Welcome to 2024!

I sincerely hope that everyone was able to enjoy a restful break.

Over the past couple of weeks, I have been working closely with both our leadership team and staff preparing for this year. One of my highlights was spending the day with our leadership team, praying and planning for 2024. I am so impressed with the quality, integrity and passion of the BHCS leaders and staff. Our leadership team agreed that our theme for 2024 should be ‘Growing Stronger Together’.

In 2023, I had the privilege of visiting Harvard University in the USA. This time also afforded me the opportunity to travel to other areas, including visiting the amazing Sequoia National Park. This park is filled with the world’s largest trees, called the Sequoia. The sequoias are not only the largest trees measured by total volume, they are also the largest living things on the planet. They can grow to over 100m in height and weigh more than 4,000 tons. These trees really are giants! Perhaps surprisingly though, the sequoia trees have a very shallow root base with mature sequoia tree roots only being about 2m deep.

So, how do these amazing large trees withstand every storm for thousands of years?

The answer, astoundingly, is the fact that their roots are intertwined to form a community. Each sequoia tree can spread out underground across an entire acre, twisting and turning and intertwining into an entire community of roots, holding each other strong.

Sequoias stand tall together. They need one another and they almost seem to know it. The sequoias grow stronger together. Just like sequoia trees, we also grow stronger together. BHCS functions best when we work together, in community and in teams. We simply are stronger together.

  • Our Executive Leadership Team is stronger together as a team
  • Our Kinder Team is stronger together as a team
  • Our Primary teaching staff are stronger together as a team
  • Our Secondary teaching staff are stronger together as a team
  • Our Administration Team is stronger together as a team
  • Our Bus Drivers are stronger together as a team
  • Our School Council is stronger together as a team

The list goes on…

As we embark on yet another year, our team at BHCS stands united together, firmly upon the foundation of Jesus Christ, committed to continuing to grow our amazing school stronger together.

Finally, please do not hesitate to approach me and say ‘hi’ if you see me around the school. I love opportunities to connect with our BHCS community.

Quote of the week…
