Prep Guy

A very warm welcome to all our new families and Preppies. I hope you continue to have a long and happy association with our amazing staff and students.

Over the past two weeks we have been completing lots of fun activities to get to know each other and set our classroom climate to one which allows all students to be the best version of themselves possible. We have discussed why we come to school with students drawing and labelling their thoughts.

We have drawn, written and spoken about our Summer holidays, things we are looking forward to, showing how we are ready to learn, things that we can control such as our listening skills and things that we can not control such as the weather. We have learnt about our strengths and how we can learn from each other.

We also thought about our goals for Term 1 which we will be working on at school. These goals are up in our classroom if you would like to help your child achieve their goal.

We have learnt how to be respectful rabbits by treating others the way we would like to be treated. We have learnt how to be responsible rhinos by doing the right thing and being trustworthy. We have learnt about the power of 'yet' showing our resilience by bouncing back when faced with challenging ideas.

On Wednesday the 14th we wrote Valentines Day cards to our loved ones and on Friday we celebrated  Random Acts of Kindness day by choosing one idea each to carry out at school or home.

A reminder that my classroom doors are always open to you. Please feel free to come in at any time ( once you have shown the office your current working with children's check) to join in with our learning journey this year. Please let me know what is going well for your child this year and how I can make their first year of school the best year ever!

Gardening Cooking Club

For those who are new to our school, I run a Gardening Cooking Club every Tuesday lunchtime. This is open to all grades, so feel free to come and check out what we are doing. We rotate through a three week cycle where we 1. plant and grow our own fruits and vegies, then 2. cook with the food we grow and the eggs the chooks give us and on the last rotation 3. we work on a permanent Art work for the school grounds. Unfortunately  Tuesday the 13th was so hot we had a hot day timetable so we didn't get to cook, but Prep Guy  made Valentines Day pancakes with strawberries and cream. YUM!

1 Wigg and 1/2 Stoll

Welcome back to another fantastic Year in Grade 1 and Grade 2! It has been a pleasure meeting many families already these last two weeks and getting to know you all. This year we have many exciting activities planned and cannot wait to share them all.

Students have been reconnecting with school by participating in getting to know you activities, identifying the range of emotions we experiences, while also setting the learning climate in our classrooms. Activities have included identifying how we show Respect, Responsibility and Resilience within our school community, The range of emotions we may face during our daily experiences (and how we can respond in these situations) and identifying our character strengths. It was great to see students engaged within these activities, which will be included in their Learning Journey book.

Student of the Week:

1W: Ryda- For showing great Resilience when taking on feedback when colouring his images during our Lotus diagram.

1/2 Stoll: Congratulations to Liam and Finn!

Liam has been working really hard on expanding his knowledge of his emotions and how he can use the Zones to help him regulate!

Finn has been a super supportive classmate to all, however has also demonstrated an extra super star level of care to his best friends.

Liam, keep trying, Tracey and I are so proud of you. You are so important!

Finn, keep being the kind soul that you are! You are so loving!

A note from Miss Stoll:

In 1/2 Stoll we have been focusing on listening to our bodies and minds as we settle back into our school routine, especially when we need a rest or need some extra help. Starting the school year is  exciting, however it can also be quite tiring. We will continue to focus on our wellbeing whilst we strengthen our understanding of one another, our classroom expectations and what we need and want from our learning environment.

I am so proud of all of my Grade 1 and 2 students, you all bring  special, unique and loveable things to our classroom and I know we will continue to work as a team throughout this year. Our particular focus’ at  the moment are following instructions the first time and listening to the speaker, we are learning about how to be active listeners and learners as well. If you would like to discuss anything with me regarding your child’s learning, development or wellbeing please come and see me! I hope to meet and/ or catch up with families at our parent chats in week 8, there ten minute check ins are able to be booked now if you wish! If I can do anything further to support your child please don’t hesitate to come and see me so I can make this year as fun, supportive & enriching as possible.

I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together this year! Here’s to 2024 and all of the amazing things  it will bring! 🤎
