Principal's Report

Thank you to all parents/carers and extended family members who came along to celebrate the beginning of 2024 with a performance from each year level, taught to the students by Maddie from STOMP dance group. Students had a fantastic week learning and rehearsing new dance moves for our celebratory show. I do acknowledge that dancing is definitely not everyone’s most preferred activity, however, we were so impressed with all students who just had a go (some pleasantly surprised with the fun they had). Our grade 3-6 parents were also surprised with an opportunity to participate. The energy in the stadium certainly set the tone for a positive, high energy 2024.

Parent Information Session Monday 26th February, 2024

We are looking forward to seeing lots of parents/carers at our 2024 Parent Information Night. At least one parent from each family is strongly encouraged to attend. The evening schedule is as follows;

5-5.30pm                            All parents meet in the school stadium – whole school information                                               outlined

5.30pm onwards              Back to the classroom – meet your teacher, tour of the classroom

We are able to provide childcare for a small number of children between 5-5.30pm, please only utilise this option if you cannot make alternative arrangements for care. Please keep pre-school children with you during the sessions. Unfortunately, our school spaces are not set up to care for pre-school children.

We are in the process of publishing a WEPS Annual Handbook for parents outlining everything you need to know about;

  • Staff in the school
  • Administration
  • Learning
  • Wellbeing
  • Behaviour Support
  • How you can support learning at home

We are hoping this will be available to collect on the 26th of February, if not, we will be sending it home soon after. Our plan is to distribute the annual handbook to parents each year so that our whole school community stays well informed about how we work together at WEPS.

In the meantime, please make sure you have access to Compass and Seesaw. If you are having any issues with these please contact the office for support with Compass or your classroom teacher for support with SeeSaw.

School Council

I feel so incredibly fortunate to be working with an extremely supportive team of school council members. On Tuesday night we had our final meeting with the current school council, consisting of 5 DET (Department of Education) reps – Ann Dwyer, Essie Rogers, Ali Smith, India Thomas, Phil Dennis (parent DET rep), 7 parent members (Sam Pereira, Billy Gardner, David Long, Hafey Rock, Clinton Hill, Michael Smith, and Eli Cowling) and 1 community member (Garth Baulch).

I would like to thank DET reps – Essie Rogers and India Tomas and parent reps  - Eli Cowling, Michael Smith, Clinton Hill and Hafey Rock for their commitment and contributions to school council over the past 2 years. Their term is ending, hence leaving 4 open parent positions (information has been sent out on compass).

Safety

Keeping your children safe is our daily priority. Before and after school our whole school community plays a role in keeping all WEPS children safe. Please remember we are educators and not parking/road police. We are doing our best to make sure your children arrive and leave school safely, but we need everyone playing their role. PLEASE follow parking and road rules!

It is wonderful to see families riding and scooting to school, but please refrain from riding/scooting on school grounds between 8.30am and 3.40pm.
