Welcome to KKHS Big Picture Academy
Welcome to 2024 and the first TGIF for the year. This year has seen a busy start to the year with the start of the IBPLC for our Year 11 Senior Students.
In 2023 we had a successful year with all year 12 students in full time employment, TAFE and placements at UON through the Credential.
The International Big Picture Learning Credential (IBPLC) is awarded to Big Picture students at the end of Year 12. In the IBPLC you are not ranked against others, but you are evaluated in terms of what you know, value, can do or demonstrate, both in and out of school, and over time. This is known as ‘personalised assessment’.
The IBPLC gives you the opportunity to be in control of how you are represented and to choose samples of your work and achievements to show to the outside world. It also offers meaningful insights about you to employers, TAFE and universities.
It is for ALL students on pathways to:
As always in Big Picture, the focus of the IBPLC is on:
At present the Year 11 Advisory has 5 students on a University pathway. 4 students will be participating in an SBAT and 3 students are completing a TAFE course as part of their Big Picture Learning. Students are encouraged to participate in a Learning Through Internship at least once a week and this will enable them to gain a mentor through this process.
Shelby, a year 11 BPA student reflected on why she joined Big Picture. Shelby is a natural born leader. She has obtained an SBAT at a local Childcare centre and her dreams are to play for the Knights in the NRLW.
The reason I joined Big Picture was because I was not interested in school and doing mainstream learning. So I had a think of something that would make me want to attend and like school. Big Picture was a great choice and it gives me a great opportunity to go out into the work force and see what your interested in and love doing. I have got at a SBAT in childcare and I love doing it.
