Curriculum Activities
Anthony Waweru - Partnerships and Engagement Officer
Term 2 has continued to provide students with practical, engaging and hands-on learning opportunities across the school. Our curriculum activities have focused on helping students build confidence, communication, teamwork, responsibility and real-world life skills.
Students have taken part in learning experiences that connect classroom content with the wider community. These activities included a Fire Station tour, basketball stadium visit, Uniting AgeWell engagement and the Sobre Mesa Program. Each activity gave students the opportunity to learn outside the classroom, ask questions, interact with community members and develop a stronger understanding of workplace and community participation.
Students have also continued engaging in Digital Literacy and Music. Digital Literacy supports students to use technology safely, confidently and purposefully, while Music gives students an opportunity to express themselves, build confidence and develop collaboration skills in a creative setting.
Positive Relationships Program with Sacha
OakTree has continued to work with Sacha to deliver activities that support positive relationships, wellbeing, confidence and social connection. These sessions encourage students to reflect, communicate, participate and build respectful relationships with others.
The program has supported students through a mix of discussion, practical activities and community-based experiences. Students have been encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, take part in group activities and recognise their strengths in different settings.
These experiences have been valuable in supporting student engagement and wellbeing, while also helping students build the confidence needed to participate more fully in school and community life.

Reclink Activities
Reclink activities have continued to be a positive part of student engagement at OakTree. These sessions provide students with active, social and inclusive opportunities to build confidence, teamwork, resilience and healthy routines.
Students have participated in a range of activities, including boxing and court-based games. The boxing sessions have been especially engaging and have given students an opportunity to develop focus, discipline, movement skills and confidence in a supportive environment.
Reclink continues to give students a practical way to connect with peers, try new activities and experience the benefits of physical activity, teamwork and positive participation.

Work Placement and Pathways
Work placement remains an important part of helping students build workplace readiness and prepare for future pathways. OakTree has continued to support students to access meaningful placements where they can practise communication, reliability, teamwork, presentation and workplace expectations in real settings.
Students have already had opportunities with providers such as Vinnies, Bunnings and community-based organisations. These placements give students the chance to experience different workplace environments and begin thinking more clearly about their future employment, training and study options.
We are also continuing to build new work placement partnerships with organisations closer to students' homes where possible. This helps reduce travel barriers and supports students to attend placements consistently and confidently.
Alongside work placement, OakTree is also continuing VET and TAFE pathway planning for students undertaking VCE VM. This includes exploring suitable course options, campus locations, delivery days and future intake timelines so students can access training pathways that support their interests and graduation requirements.
