Term 1 Overview
Grace Misere - Acting Principal
As we reflect on Term 1, we are proud of the significant progress made across the school community. Student enrolments continued to grow, with the College supporting a highly multicultural cohort of learners from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Throughout the term, we strengthened our applied learning programs through work experience opportunities with community partners including Bunnings and Vinnies stores, allowing students to develop employability skills in authentic workplace settings.
Students also participated in a range of excursions and wellbeing initiatives, including visits to the Footscray Fire Station and the State Library Victoria, as well as weekly sports activities in partnership with Reclink Australia. These experiences supported teamwork, confidence building, literacy engagement, physical activity and community connection.
During Term 1, the College also strengthened a number of important policies and procedures relating to student wellbeing, anti-bullying, anaphylaxis management and transport safety. These updates reflect our ongoing commitment to maintaining safe, inclusive and trauma-informed learning environments for all students.
As we continue through Term 2, our focus remains on student engagement, wellbeing, applied learning and strengthening pathways into further education, training and employment. We thank our students, families, staff and community partners for their ongoing support and contribution to the OakTree College community.
Together, we continue building a school where dreams and identity flourish, and where every young person is empowered to succeed.
