📚 Library News: Community, Commemoration, and Storytelling 📚

We are approaching the halfway point of Term 2, and the Library remains a hive of activity. Over the next few weeks, our school participates in several important national events that connect our students with the wider community.

👟 Walk Safely to School Day – Friday, 22 May

On Friday, 22 May, we encourage all our families to participate in Walk Safely to School Day. We will be hosting a community walk starting at 8:20 am. It is a fantastic way to promote road safety and healthy habits. We look forward to seeing a great turnout of students and parents hitting the pavement together!

🕊️ Sorry Day Assembly – Tuesday, 26 May

On Tuesday, 26 May, our school will hold a special assembly to observe National Sorry Day. This is a significant time for our students to reflect on the history and continued journey towards reconciliation in Australia. Please note that the exact time for this assembly is TBC; we will update families via our usual communication channels as soon as the schedule is finalised.

📖 National Simultaneous Storytime – Wednesday, 27 May

Get ready for National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS)! On Wednesday, 27 May at 12:00 pm, our school will join over a million readers across Australia and New Zealand to read the same book at the very same time.

NSS is a vibrant annual event that celebrates the power of Australian children’s literature and the joy of reading aloud. Our students always enjoy being part of this massive "shared" story, and we can’t wait to see their reactions to this year's chosen title.

🏆 NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC)

The Premier’s Reading Challenge is now well underway! This is a wonderful opportunity for students to challenge themselves and explore a diverse range of literature. For those participating at home, parents can refer to our previous email correspondence for detailed instructions on how to assist. To enter books, simply head to the PRC website and log in using your child’s Department of Education (DoE) username and password. Please keep in mind that the challenge officially closes on 18 September (Week 9, Term 3). We encourage all our students to keep track of their reading and aim to complete their logs well before the deadline.

🌟 Library Reminders

With so many events happening, please ensure students bring their Library bags on their scheduled days so they can continue to borrow and enjoy our ever-growing collection.

Thank you for your ongoing support of our Library and school initiatives.
