Spotlight on Learning

Bethlehem Community

Dear Families,

Week 3 has been a fun‑filled and energetic week, with students engaging in a wide range of learning experiences and school events. From creative arts to athletics and celebrations, the Year 6s have certainly made the most of every opportunity.

Our students proudly represented St Peter’s at the District Cross Country, showing determination, teamwork, and wonderful school spirit. Whether they were running, cheering on their peers, or supporting friends who felt nervous, they demonstrated resilience and encouragement throughout the day.

We also had a beautiful Mother’s Day celebration, and it was heart‑warming to see so many mums and caregivers join us. The students had a fantastic time performing their special dance, and their excitement while creating origami gifts for their mums made the morning even more memorable. Thank you to all the incredible mothers and carers who attended. Your presence and support help create such a strong, caring community, and we are grateful for the joy you bring to our school.

Learning for the Week Ahead

Religious Education: Students are learning how Catholic leaders respond to conflict. They will explore how these responses uphold the dignity of every human person.

English: Students will learn to tell the difference between simple, compound, and complex sentences. They will also continue reading Us Mob Walawurru, responding to questions, building vocabulary, and practising fluent, expressive reading.

Mathematics: We are comparing and ordering fractions with related denominators. Students will use multiplication and division to understand how fractions relate to one another.

Integrated Curriculum: We are exploring what India is like and how monsoon weather affects people and communities. Students will describe India, explain what a monsoon is, and understand how monsoons can lead to flooding.

Auslan: We are learning how facial expressions change the meaning of questions in AUSLAN. Students will practise signing closed‑ended questions with eyebrows up and open‑ended questions with eyebrows down.

Social & Emotional Learning:  Students are learning to recognise and value the strengths of others. They will identify strengths in their peers and explain how these qualities help build respectful relationships.
