School Leaders

This year is the second year of reintroducing the School Talent Show! Last year, Ms Jones brought back this fantastic part of our school, giving students the opportunity to showcase their talents.

Every student who wanted to audition for the talent show had the chance to get involved. Last year, we had 14 students perform, and some students even took the initiative to be judges.

The talent show will be held in the BER building during Week 8 of this term. We are looking forward to another exciting Talent Show this year!

House Captains

On Wednesday, we had Athletics Day, which is a day when students get to participate in fun events such as discus, relay, shot put, high jump, long jump, and the 100-metre race for their age group. Everyone had a great time competing and showing our school spirit. At the end of the day, Wattle came in first place, followed by Heath in second, Bluegum in third, and Banksia in fourth.

When you're in the Year 5/6 classrooms, Term 2 is one of the funnest times of the year. Students get to choose which interschool sport they would like to play. The options include netball, AFL 9s, T-ball, and sometimes soccer, depending on whether other schools have a team.

T-ball is a really fun sport where students compete against different schools every Friday, unless the games are cancelled. It is an exciting sport that everyone enjoys. Netball is also a fantastic sport, and all of the interschool sports are great fun for the students involved.

Art Leaders

This month's newsletter is about the exciting learning happening in Art and Music.

In Music, students in Years 3 to 6 have been making masks. We have also been rewriting the song Clint Eastwood by the Gorillaz in our own words and sharing our versions with our classes.

In Art, we have been making sunflowers out of clay and painting them. We then place the flowers in boxes that we have painted ourselves. This is on our unit learning about Vincent Van Gogh. Over the past few weeks, students from all year levels have been creating and painting sunflowers to make a special art piece for the Art Show.

Environmental Leaders

This term, a group of students attended the Big Green Schools Conference. The idea behind the conference is for schools to create projects that benefit their school environment.

We are trying to reduce rubbish at school. Rubbish can harm our plants and local animals, so we are asking everyone to help make a difference. Please try to bring rubbish-free lunchboxes. If your lunch contains rubbish, you are not allowed to eat outside. This rule applies to everyone.

We also ask that if you have an apple or banana, you place the scraps in your new classroom compost bins. These bins are located in your breakout spaces. Depending on your year level, you will have one or two compost bins available.

Thank you for helping to keep our school clean and environmentally friendly!
