Principal's Report

Welcome Barbeque

Dear Families,

What a fantastic turnout for our Welcome BBQ on Friday! It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces from our St. Leonard's family – students, parents, and even past parents and students – all enjoying a fun-filled evening.

The sizzle of sausages on the BBQ was a definite hit! A massive shout-out to our incredible volunteers in particular Ruwan, Rehan, Verina, Justin, Anthony and Frank, who kept everyone well-fed. A special thanks to Abdullah, Eloise & Evelyn's dad, for the delicious fresh fruit – it was the perfect side dish!

Our students also had a blast working on their netball skills with the amazing coaches from Highvale Netball Club. Thanks, Melanie, for making it happen!

The students did an amazing job performing our school's theme song, "Shine".

We were also extremely honoured to have had experienced the beautiful display of Indonesian dance, organised by Verina, which was truly captivating.

Rob was also touched by the many warm wishes shared with him throughout the evening.

Thank you to everyone who came along and made the night so special. Our community is what makes St. Leonard's such a wonderful place to be!

Pancake Day

Tuesday, was a flipping fantastic day at school. We held our bi-annual whole school pancake cook-up for Shrove Tuesday, and it was a huge success. Every student got to try their hand at making "Stokes' Fluffy Pancakes," and the results were delicious.

From measuring out ingredients to flipping pancakes on the electric fry pans, the kids had a blast. A massive thank you to all the amazing mums who came to help out at such short notice. We couldn't have done it without you!

Reconciliation Family Workshop Night

Tuesday evening saw our Grade 3 families come together for a meaningful Family Workshop Night exploring the sacrament of Reconciliation. The rooms buzzed with thoughtful conversation and shared experiences as families delved into activities designed to explore the meaning of reconciliation and our relationship with God. It was wonderful to witness the collaborative spirit as parents and children worked together.

The journey to the student's first Reconciliation continues at home as students will be completing the workshop activities with their parents, building on the foundation laid during the session. We encourage all families to take this opportunity for deeper reflection and connection.

Mark your calendars: The Grade 3 Reconciliation service will take place on April 1st at 7:00 PM. We look forward to celebrating this special milestone with our students and their families.

Ash Wednesday Mass: A Meaningful Start to Lent

Following our Shrove Tuesday pancake celebrations, Wednesday marked the beginning of Lent with our Ash Wednesday Mass. We joined together as a St. Leonard's community for a solemn and reflective service.

The students of the 3/4 class read beautifully and led their first Mass with great reverence. We extend our sincere gratitude to Fr. John for his guidance and inspiring message during this important celebration.

We hope that our students will carry Fr. John's words with them and strive to live the Good News throughout this Lenten season and beyond.

5/6 Sovereign Hill Camp

This week, our 5/6 students embarked on an exciting journey back in time to the Victorian Gold Rush at Sovereign Hill. From Monday to Wednesday, they immersed themselves in the era, participating in a wide range of activities that brought history to life. The students were particularly enthusiastic about two favourites: exploring the shops of Main Street and trying their luck at panning for gold.

A huge thank you to the dedicated staff who made this unforgettable experience possible: Mr. Cotesta, Ms. Pascuzzi, Ms. Sammut, Mrs. Sedony, Mr. Stokes, Ms. Tomasiello, and our amazing learning support staff, Des and Kayleen. Their tireless dedication and sleepless nights, ensured a safe and enriching camp for our students. We are incredibly grateful for their commitment!
