Safety Reminder

"Safety Reminder: Bicycle Safety on School Grounds"

A reminder to students, as part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety of all students, staff, and visitors, we remind students of the procedures for arriving and leaving school grounds on their bicycles. These guidelines are essential for everyone’s safety and must be followed at all times by bicycle riders:

 

Upon Arrival:

  • Dismount at the Gates: All students are required to dismount from their bicycles when they reach the gates of the school or when entering the school from the oval.
  • Signage: Clear signs are displayed at each entrance to remind students to get off their bikes and walk them to the designated bike racks.
  • Secure Your Bike: Once at the bike racks, please ensure that you secure both your bike and helmet with a padlock to prevent theft.

 

When Leaving the School:

  • Walk Your Bike: Students must walk their bike to the exit gates of the school before riding it off school grounds.

 

Safety First

It is essential that students do not ride their bikes on school grounds. This measure is in place to ensure the safety of all community members, as school grounds can become crowded and busy throughout the day.

"Safety Reminder: Wearing a Bicycle Helmet"

A reminder to parents / carers that students who ride their bikes to and from school must wear a bike helmet.  All bike and scooter riders are required to wear a bike helmet in Victoria.

Police can stop bike and scooter riders and issue a fine or a warning for not wearing an approved bicycle helmet.

Research indicates that bike helmets greatly reduce the risk of head injuries by almost 70%, which are the major cause of death and injury to bike riders. 

Please ensure that your child wears a bike helmet when riding their bike.
