Principal's Chat

Term 1, Week 6 - Thursday 6th March, 2025

Good afternoon families of OLSC.

I hope you all manage to enjoy some family time on the long weekend.  Thank you all for your support tomorrow for our first school closure day of the year.  The staff will be engaged in a day of professional learning regarding Learning and Teaching and the MACS Vision for Instruction.  Vision for Instruction has been crafted to communicate MACS’ preferred system-wide approach to achieving learning and teaching excellence. It is firmly grounded in the evidence of how students learn most effectively and efficiently, offering explicit guidance for MACS schools on instructional best practice.

Aussie of the Month Recipients

The Aussie of the Month award recognises students for their contribution to our school community: students who are role models for others, show consideration and respect for others and are inclusive and live out our school motto (Where every child is valued).

Our School Performance is Coming

I am delighted that our school will have a performance later this year.  After a long break following COVID and change to staffing we are now excited to announce that our school performance will be held later this year.  Jacq has been talking about this in perofrmaing arts classes this week and the excitement and momentum is building already!

New OLSC Website is on its way

We have begun the process of creating new school website.  In coming weeks there will be a photo shoot conducted by the web designers.  Families will have the option of selecting for their child's photo nit to be on the website.  More information regarding this will be sent out next week.

You can now follow us on instagram

Exciting news - we are now on Instagram.  I recommend that you all follow the school as an additional way to know what is going on at OLSC and share in the school news and student achievements.  We will update weekly and share major events and some day to day reminders.  All you need to do is search olscps

School Photo Day

In just 10 days time the smell of gel and hairspray will fill the buildings and alarm clocks will be set early for all the staff so hair straighteners can do their thing - school photo day is almost here!  On Monday 25th March we will have our 2025 School Photo day.

You should've received information regarding this on Friday 28th February.  If you have misplaced your flier with your personal order information please contact the customer care team at schoolpix on 1300 766 055.

Morning Drop Off Reminder

The earliest time for arrival at school is 8:30 am unless you are using the before school program.  It is concerning how many students are being dropped off and unsupervised before this time.  For the safety of all in our community please do drop students at school prior to this time as there is not any supervision outside until the gates open at 8:30 am.

Prayer for the New Church

The parish prayer for the new church is below.  Please feel free to include this in your family prayers as a new church for the Manor Lakes community would be a great feature of our parish.

 58 Squat Challenge 2025

Our P&F Committee have signed up to participate in the 2025 58 Squat Challenge.

Did you know that 58 people in Australia are diagnosed with breast cancer each and every day. The incidence of breast cancer is increasing with more Australians being diagnosed than last year.

Your support of the 58 Squat Challenge funds world-class breast cancer research that will help us achieve our vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer.

Well Done Harper

Harper had an exciting weekend a few weeks ago in Feb, being awarded an Australian Girls Golf Scholarship for a second year. One of the youngest in Australia. She was invited to the exclusive 13th Beach Golf Course in Barwon Heads to play the Short Course alongside some of the scholarship participants, while the Vic Golf Open was playing. Her three person team came second on the day and she won nearest to the pin award. She got to meet an abundance of male and female golfers and even got to listen to the WPGA players and CEO Karen Lunn and prior British Open winner.
