Assistant Principal's

Report

Ciao a tutti!

Yet another great fortnight of learning has occurred at FNPS with our students deeply immersed in engaging learning tasks to build deep understanding and foster curiosity! This past fortnight has seen Italian Teacher Lucy Ballard deliver a full cycle of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program to all classes, and it has been the talk of the town! Eggplant pizza, anyone? Deliziosa!

Thank you to all of our staff who support Lucy in delivering this rich program, and thank you as well to our parents and community for your support.

Thanks also to the parents and carers who have taken on the role of Grade Parents for 2025, and to our parent helpers on excursions, incursions, camps and more. We couldn’t do it without you!

DIVISION SPORTS

This week Ben and a small group of parents will be accompanying our students to represent FNPS at the Division Swimming Carnival at Oak Park on Thursday, and at Division Tennis on Friday. Good luck to all our competitors!

NAPLAN

The NAPLAN Literacy and Numeracy tests for students in Years 3 and 5 are underway tomorrow, with our students kicking off the Writing exam at 9:30am on Wednesday. Year 3 students will complete this on paper, while Year 5s will use ChromeBooks for the Writing test.

The Reading test follows on Thursday, and next week will see the students undertaking the Language Conventions assessment, along with Numeracy on Monday and Tuesday. Catch up sessions will also be scheduled for next week.

5/6 CAMP

Preparations are underway for our exciting Grade 5/6 Camp at the Summit in Trafalgar, which is a three-day adventure camp experience. The activities the students will be participating in will have a strong focus on building resilience. Participation in the camp program is an integral component of the curriculum.

The 5/6 camp will be held in Term 2 from Monday May 12th to Wednesday May 14th.

Teachers, leadership and support staff will be accompanying the 5/6 students on camp. We are looking for one parent/carer volunteer per class, to come on camp as a helper.

To attend, you must have a current Working With Children Check and have attended a Parent Helper Confidentiality information session. If you are available and interested in attending this Camp as a volunteer, please email fitzroy.north.ps@education.vic.gov.au

with "5/6 Camp Parent Volunteer" in the subject line.

Buona settimana,

Erin
