Principal's Desk

From Mr Mati Azadzoi

Dear School Community,

As my time as Principal of this remarkable school comes to a close, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the extraordinary work we have accomplished together over the last three years. It has been an absolute honor to serve this vibrant community, and I am filled with pride when I look back on all that we have achieved.

From the beginning, we have committed ourselves to creating an environment where both academic excellence and student well-being are at the forefront. Thanks to the dedication of our incredible staff, the support of our families, and the hard work of our students, we have made tremendous strides in both these areas.

Academically, we have seen significant improvements in student outcomes. Our students have not only excelled in their learning but have developed a genuine love for inquiry and growth. From enhanced literacy and numeracy programs to the introduction of innovative learning initiatives, we have set a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

On the well-being front, we’ve worked tirelessly to ensure that every child feels supported, valued, and heard. Our well-being programs, designed to nurture resilience, mental health, and a sense of belonging, have been instrumental in fostering an environment where every student can thrive, both inside and outside the classroom. The positive feedback from families and the ongoing improvement in our school culture are testaments to this success.

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you. Your unwavering support, dedication, and commitment to the school’s improvement have made these achievements possible. The strong sense of community we have built is something I will always treasure, and it has been a privilege to work alongside so many passionate and committed individuals.

As I prepare to step away from this role, I am happy to share that the new Principal will be announced in the last week of Term 4. I am confident that the future of the school is in great hands, and I look forward to seeing how our wonderful school will continue to grow and thrive under their leadership.

NEW FURNITURE across the school and library-arriving Term 2 2025

We are thrilled to announce that, as part of our ongoing commitment to improving our school environment, nearly $80,000 worth of brand new furniture will be arriving for Term 2, Week 3/4. This is a significant investment in the future of our students and staff, and we can't wait to see the positive impact it will have. Our Auslan room, STEAM room, Junior School (all classrooms Prep-Grade 2) and gallery will be filled with new tables and chairs.

Included in this exciting upgrade is new library furniture, designed to create an inviting and engaging space for our students to explore, read, and learn. Our goal is to ensure that every corner of our school is not only functional but also inspiring for the next generation of learners.

This addition will enhance both the classroom and common areas, ensuring a comfortable and modern environment for everyone in our school community. We look forward to seeing how these new pieces contribute to a positive, collaborative atmosphere as we continue to focus on providing the best learning experience possible.

Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to improve our school's facilities.

We have also allowed for close to $15,000 for ICT infrastructure and equipment upgrades to occur.

A special thanks Mr Julian De Zilva for working tirelessly to seek multiple quotes and present best options to school council including school leadership in order to maximise on the order. Lots of hours spent!!

Harmony Day

This week, our school came together to celebrate Harmony Day, a special occasion that highlights the importance of inclusivity, respect, and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background. Harmony Day is a reminder that “Everyone Belongs”, and our students embraced this message with enthusiasm.

Students arrived dressed in traditional cultural attire or a touch of orange, the official colour of Harmony Day, symbolising social harmony and unity. The school was filled with vibrant colours, smiles, and a strong sense of community.

Throughout the day, students engaged in rich cultural activities, exploring music, dance, art, and storytelling from different cultures. They shared personal traditions, sampled foods, and participated in discussions about the beauty of diversity.

It was a wonderful celebration of the many cultures that make up our school community. We are so proud of our students for their openness, respect, and eagerness to learn from one another. Events like these strengthen the inclusive and welcoming environment we strive for every day.

Thank you to our staff, families, and students for making Harmony Day such a meaningful and memorable experience!

House Athletics

What an incredible Athletics Day we had at Officer Primary! Our students showed amazing determination, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm as they competed in a variety of track and field events. From sprints to long jumps, relays to shot put, every student gave their best effort, cheering each other on and embracing the spirit of friendly competition.

It was wonderful to see students pushing themselves, celebrating their achievements, and supporting their peers throughout the day. Whether it was a personal best, a podium finish, or simply giving it a go, each child should be proud of their efforts!

A huge thank you to our fantastic parent volunteers who helped run events, record scores, and cheer from the sidelines. Your support made the day run smoothly, and we truly appreciate your time and effort.

Congratulations to all our students for their hard work, resilience, and teamwork—we couldn’t be prouder!

National Young Leaders Day

A group of our student leaders had the incredible opportunity to attend the National Young Leaders Day in the city. This inspiring event brought together young leaders from across the region to learn from some of Australia’s most influential figures in sports, performing arts, and leadership.

Throughout the day, our students heard firsthand from key speakers who shared their experiences, challenges, and insights into what makes an effective leader. They learned about resilience, teamwork, and the power of a positive mindset—all essential qualities for great leadership.

Beyond the inspiring talks, our students engaged in interactive sessions that encouraged them to think about their own leadership styles and how they can make a difference in their school and community.

It was a truly enriching experience, and we are proud to see our students embracing leadership with enthusiasm and confidence. We look forward to seeing them put their newfound knowledge into action!

Progress Reports

We are pleased to inform our families that Progress Reports have now been published on Compass. These reports provide an update on your child’s learning progress, effort, and engagement in the classroom.

We encourage all parents and guardians to take some time to review their child’s report. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s classroom teacher. Open communication between home and school is key to supporting student success.

Thank you for your ongoing support in your child’s learning journey!

NAPLAN

Congratulations to our Grade 3 and Grade 5 students for successfully completing NAPLAN! Over the past two weeks, they have shown focus, resilience, and determination while tackling the assessments, and we are incredibly proud of their efforts.

To celebrate their hard work and commitment, we will be providing a special lunch for all students as a way to acknowledge their fantastic attitude and effort throughout the testing period.

A big thank you to our students, teachers, and families for their support during NAPLAN. Well done, everyone! 🎉

Staff 'Differentiation' Professional Development

At Officer Primary, we are committed to ensuring that our teaching practices reflect the best, research-based approaches to support student learning. Next week, our staff will engage in Professional Development on 'Differentiation', focusing on strategies to meet the diverse needs of all learners in the classroom.

Differentiation allows teachers to adjust instruction, provide targeted support, and challenge students at their individual levels, ensuring that every child is engaged and progressing in their learning. Our staff will explore evidence-based practices and practical strategies to create more inclusive and responsive learning environments.

We are proud of our ongoing investment in professional learning, as it directly benefits our students and strengthens our school’s commitment to high-quality teaching and learning.

Emergency Management Drill-Upcoming

As part of the Department’s safety protocols, our school will be engaging in an Emergency Management Drill next week. These drills are an important part of ensuring that our students and staff are well-prepared in the event of an emergency.

The drill will provide an opportunity for everyone to practise the correct procedures in a calm and structured way. Staff will guide students through the process, ensuring they understand what to do and where to go.

We take emergency preparedness seriously and appreciate the support of our school community in reinforcing the importance of these procedures. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school a safe and prepared environment for all!
