Many Hands make Light Work!

Autumn is the perfect time to get some much needed garden maintenance done. The last two weeks we managed to get a lot done all around the school and it felt very productive.

The Grade 6 students maintained the Indigenous Garden by pruning grasses, maintaining fences and feeding and watering plants. The Grade 5 students got to work in the garden space around their classrooms adding a new garden bed, watering and feeding the plants and removing any dead and scrappy foliage. Mr. K’s Grade 5 class maintained the pond area by removing leaves that had fallen in the pond and installing a new frog bog.

Composting Competition

Starting on Monday we will be starting a composting competition between all the classes. As part of the daily compost collection, the fruits and vegetables placed in the classes’ compost bin will be counted and graphed. This will be presented every fortnight at assembly and the class with the most pieces of compost will be awarded a composting trophy and certificate. The winning class will keep it until the next assembly where the new winner will be announced.
