Science

Year 5 and 6 studentshave been continuing to investigate states of matter. This week they learnt how resin changes from a liquid to a solid, through a chemical reaction that generates heat. They created a lovely art piece, embedding some dried flowers in the resin before it hardened.

Year 3 and 4 students delved further into forces with an investigation using different sized force created with a catapult. They had to think about how they could conduct a fair test, only changing one variable, in this case the size of the force. They also had to make a prediction about what would happen before conducting the test. They will be continuing with this in their next lesson, making sure that they can replicate the results.

Year 1 and 2 students continued exploring how we use our senses to describe foods. This time instead of taste they focussed on seeing, hearing, smelling and feeling the foods. It was hard to only use one sense at a time! They came up with some fantastic words; slimy, squishy, smooth and pungent to name a few!

In Foundation lessons, students had fun exploring things in the garden with magnifying glasses. They then drew a ‘zoomed in’ picture in their science journals.
