They also enjoyed a Harmony Week inspired lesson focusing on the theme ‘Everyone belongs’. We had an Outdoor Music classroom experience where we focused on what singing meant to
The Grade 2 and 3 students worked hard to use their learnings of musical notation to create their own compositions. They chose different percussion instruments to perform their compositions to the class. They all should be very proud of the collaborative effort and creativity they used when performing

Do the numbers 1 - 6 - 5 - 4 mean anything to you? Well it does in the Grade 6 music program. We have been investigating the qualities of pop songs and what makes them so very catchy! The numbers 1 - 6 - 5 - 4 correspond to a chord progression that is used ALOT by pop music artists. Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers all use this progression in inventive ways to write songs. In the key of C, the chords would be C - G - A minor and F. It is unreal how many songs use this progression.
The chord numbering system is how we use chord progressions in different keys.
