Leadership @ MPS

No School Thursday!

A reminder that there will be no school for our students this coming Thursday, 27th of March. This is the first and final Professional Practice Day for 2025, an initiative that is part of the current Victorian Government Schools Agreement. This means that this day falls outside of the usual Curriculum Day allocation for the year.

Our staff will be hard at work preparing for Term 2 - a task that's much easier without the students on-site! Camp Australia will be running a Rocketeers program for the day, please visit their website to book.

Outside of House School Grounds Usage

We pride ourselves on being a welcoming and open school and it's wonderful seeing families and students enjoying the school's facilities outside of school hours. However, recently there have been reports, as well as staff witnessing students accessing restricted areas and climbing on structures, posing risks to their safety, damaging school property and disturbing our neighbours. This behaviour appears to be occurring often on Friday afternoons when we know parents are close by, but not actually on school grounds.

We want to emphasise that the safety and wellbeing of our students are our top priorities. It is the responsibility of parents and guardians to ensure that their children do not engage in such activities outside of school hours. Please remind your children that certain areas are off-limits for their safety and to preserve the integrity of our school environment and community.

Filming Day

Some of you may have seen, or heard about, the camera crew that was on-site yesterday taking some footage in and around the school. They were here on behalf of the Department of Education to get a glimpse of how the Flexible Work for School Leaders Initiative runs here at Monty Primary. This initiative supports principals and other school leaders in accessing flexible work arrangements and is what opened the door for our current shared Principal role. The Department is hoping to showcase our arrangement to make it seem more attractive to leaders at other schools.

NAPLAN

A big congratulations to our Year 3 and 5 students for completing NAPLAN! We know it’s not the most exciting way to spend a few mornings, but you approached it with focus and resilience. While we don’t put too much weight on standardised tests, we’re proud of the strong results our students achieve year after year. More importantly, we value the curiosity, kindness and effort you bring to learning every day.

Remember students, you are so much more than a number to us!

House Tops Reminder

A final reminder that orders for our new house top from Spartan close this coming Monday, 24th of March at 5pm sharp. There are examples of each of the tops displayed in the front office windows as well as some testing sizes which can be tried on at the office. All relevant details can be found in the flyer below.

Students can wear these on Fridays, on their PE day and for carnival events. We’re looking forward to seeing the school bursting with house colours! Don’t forget, you can use your School Saving Bonus to purchase them - why not grab an extra one to last through primary school?

Fun Run - Total Amount

The fundraising portal for our school Fun Run has officially closed, with a few hundred dollars coming in after the event day. We are very proud to announce that the MPS community's had work and dedication has raised just over $21,000 to contribute to the school's Solar Upgrade - a phenomenal achievement! All of the student prizes have been ordered, and we are awaiting information as to when to expect them at school. Once they arrive, we will send them home with the students

Also, keep an eye out for a newsfeed early next week as we seek families willing to support the school with termly fundraising ventures for the remainder of 2025.

2025 School Photos

School photo day for 2025 is happening during the first week back of Term 2, on Wednesday 23rd of April. Make sure to get those smiles and haircuts right over the term break so that everyone is ready to go! Orders can now be made through Compass, all relevant details can be found in the flyer below.
