The Gap SHS Ski Trip – Japan 2026
We are thrilled to offer an exciting international experience for Year 9, 10, and 11 students.
The Gap SHS Ski Trip to Japan in January 2026!
This incredible opportunity allows students to ski or snowboard in the stunning Nagano region while also exploring Tokyo’s cultural attractions and world-famous sights.
Dates: Approximately 8th– 20th January 2026 (final itinerary pending)
Cost: Approximately $6,500 – $8,000 (subject to final quotes)
Spots are limited to 30 students – early expressions of interest are essential.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for students to develop independence, enjoy world-class skiing, and immerse themselves in Japanese culture. If you’d like your child to take part, please ensure they collect and return their Expression of Interest form as soon as possible.

Cross Country
We are looking forward to the School Cross Country Carnival on Wednesday 23rd April for an afternoon of physical activity and fun! Keep up your training over the school holidays.
If you were interested in starting in the ‘Runners Group’, please come and sign up at the sports hall notice board!
Students who are interested in trialling for the school team to attend the District Cross Country Carnival are encouraged to sign up for the runners group. These students then start at the front of the pack on the cross country day.
Come and have a chat with the HPE staff if you would like to know more information about the day at this point in time.
Vicki Wilson Championship and boys open
Trials for this premier netball competition have been held and teams selected.
Congratulations to our Year 10-12, girls and boys teams and 2 x Year 7-9 Girls teams...good luck with your training and forthcoming competition on 13 May – Regional Round (Downey Park Netball Association).
Mountain Biking...at Nerang has been postponed due to track damage. Details will be updated once we are informed. This is likely to be on Friday June 20.
Our scheduled race at Mt Cotton is still happening on Friday 2 May. Details will be distributed to those students who signed up to attend.
Football and FUTSAL trials for under 15 yr students were held on Wednesday and Thursday this week. Approx. 150 students are trialling for this – great to see such a large number of eager participants. Those chosen will be participating in a variety of competitions throughout the year.
District Sports Nominations
Lots of District and Regional sports are on offer at the moment. Details have also been placed on the DayMap notices for each of these. Students are encouraged to keep up to date with these opportunities by checking in with the daily notices each morning. If students are interested in attending any of the below trials, they are welcome to come to the HPE staff room (at the sports hall) for further detail.
North West Primary & Secondary Districts Trials
1. Discuss with HPE staff suitability to trial at the sports hall staffroom.
2. Nominate your intention to trial and fill out the nomination form at the sports hall.
3. Collect information pack for the trial.
This will include a QR code to register required information.

Fitness Club Year 7 – 12 has been running during the term and continues for the last few weeks of term 1. This is an opportunity for students to start the day with some physical activity and to work towards their individual fitness goals. Sessions are focused on Cross Country or Track & Field aspects throughout the year however the sessions are not limited to students with an interest in these spaces.
Sessions run from 7am - 8am each Tuesday and Friday morning. If the weather is not favourable for completing activities on the oval, the group will utilise the undercover area of the JI Building - Mezzanine. We will meet in all weather conditions. Students are encouraged to track progress throughout the duration of their sessions. Students are asked to wear appropriate clothing for these fitness activities. They do not need to wear their sports uniform however are welcome to if they choose. Mr Bill Dodd and Ms. Natarsha Blanco are running the sessions.
Students meet on oval -grandstand - students may use adjoining bike tracks and parks during their sessions.
