Sustainability and Environment news- From the 'Green Team'

Moving into March: Autumn Planning Begins Soon

As we step into March, we continue making fantastic progress with our school's sustainability initiatives. Our recycling efforts remain strong, with students actively engaged in walking the recycling bins out every Thursday morning. This hands-on involvement is fostering a greater understanding of responsibility and the importance of caring for our environment.

Exploring Composting

We are currently looking into composting as an additional way to enhance our sustainability efforts. Along the way, we’ve discovered a few surprises in our compost, reminding us that there is so much to learn. We are excited about this journey and look forward to deepening our understanding of composting and its benefits.

Recycling Progress

Our recycling initiatives continue to thrive, complementing our growing awareness and commitment to sustainability. Classroom discussions about waste management have been insightful, and students are showing enthusiasm in sorting materials correctly and reducing waste.

Outdoor Learning & Engagement

We are excited to introduce class walks within the school grounds as part of our sustainability learning. Our junior school students are leading the way, taking nature walks around the school environment, visiting the frog bog and the veggie patch, observing seasonal changes, and deepening their appreciation for nature.

Growing Our Veggie Patches

Our environmental team is taking the lead in designing our veggie patches and deciding what will be planted. This hands-on project will provide students with an opportunity to learn about gardening, sustainability, and the benefits of growing fresh produce.

With autumn around the corner, we look forward to incorporating more seasonal projects into our learning, ensuring that our students remain actively engaged in caring for the environment.
