How to use your School Saving Bonus (SSB) for school activities
Full details on how we are processing the School Savings Bonus.
Log onto the SSB portal https://www.schoolsavingbonus.vic.gov.au/s/ and assign your SSB to school activities. Thanks to those that have already done this.
The Department of Education will be issuing reminders to families who have yet to use the portal.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
When you wish to allocate your SSB to use for an activity at school you must email albany.rise.ps@education.vic.gov.au to advise us and we will process the payment. Once processed, we will update Compass for you to give permission to the activity
(Compass does not have a facility to do this as yet).
Once transferred from the portal, the SSB does not expire, and you can use it on activities at any time during your child’s government schooling. What SSB can be used for:
- Music / Dance
- Interschool Sport
- Swimming
- Camps
- Excursions/Incursions
- Uniform
What SSB can’t be used for:
- Classroom Consumables
- One to One laptop
- ICT Levy
- Stationery
Government school information
Accessing the School Saving Bonus
Parents and carers of students enrolled at a government school for 2025, by 28 February 2025, will access their School Saving Bonus via an email sent from the Department of Education.
If you enrolled your child after the first day of school for the 2025 year, your School Saving Bonus code will be distributed in mid-March 2025.
The Department of Education and the Victorian Government will never ask you to provide your banking or financial details for the School Saving Bonus.
A School Saving Bonus email will be sent per child, so parents and carers with multiple children will get an email for each child in their family. The emails may arrive at different times.
The email contains a unique code for the $400 bonus and access to the School Saving Bonus online system.
