Banyule Division Swimming Carnival

Yesterday 26 students headed to Oak Park Aquatic Centre to compete in the Banyule Division Swimming Carnival. It was a nervy start to the day as the bus taking us to the pool was 45 minutes late!

We got to the pool just in time for the event to start and the students could not have been more impressive throughout the carnival. I never know what to expect as anything can happen on competition days but yesterday, I was completely blown away by the effort and attitude of each student. With 8 relay teams and 11 students swimming 1 or 2 individual events I didn’t foresee the success these students and teams had. 24 students yesterday came back to school with 1, 2 or 3 ribbons and 22 students qualified for the Northern Metropolitan Region (NMR) Swim Championships on Thursday 20th March at Watermarc. 

The results are fantastic and I couldn’t be more pleased for all the students who get a chance to swim again next week. However, as I walked up and down the concourse yesterday, I was so proud of the team spirit our students were showing. The support and loud cheers when team members were swimming was heartwarming and motivating. The camaraderie amongst the students makes the early morning trainings all worth it and the ribbons are just the icing on top of the cake.
