Enrich Your Child's Mathematical Journey: Extension Programs for 2025

We are pleased to announce two outstanding mathematical extension opportunities available to secondary students in Years 7-10 during 2025. These programs, administered by the Australian Mathematics Trust (AMT), are designed to foster deeper mathematical thinking, enhance problem-solving skills, and build confidence in mathematics beyond the standard curriculum.

Mathematics Challenge Program

The Mathematics Challenge is a problem-solving competition that encourages students to develop their mathematical thinking skills through engaging with six challenging problems over a four-week period.

Program Details:

  • Duration: 5 - 30 May, 2025 (4 weeks)

  • Format: Students solve six challenging mathematical problems, working independently or with limited guidance

  • Cost: $29.50 per student

  • Benefits: Develops creative problem-solving abilities and mathematical reasoning skills in a low-pressure environment

The Challenge problems are designed to be accessible yet thought-provoking, encouraging students to apply their knowledge in new and interesting ways. Participants receive detailed solutions after submission and are awarded certificates based on their achievement level.

Mathematics Enrichment Program

For students seeking a more in-depth mathematical experience, the Mathematics Enrichment program offers an extended opportunity to develop advanced problem-solving techniques through carefully structured study materials.

Program Details:

  • Duration: 9 June - 26 September, 2025 (12-16 weeks)

  • Format: Students work through comprehensive study booklets and problem sets

  • Cost: $55.20 per student

  • Benefits: Provides sustained engagement with mathematical concepts, ideal for building foundations for senior mathematics

The Enrichment program allows students to progress at their own pace while exploring mathematical concepts in greater depth than typically possible in the classroom. The extended timeframe encourages persistence and the development of sustained problem-solving strategies.

Why Consider These Programs?

These extension opportunities are particularly valuable for:

  • Students who enjoy mathematical challenges

  • Those looking to strengthen their skills before entering Years 11 and 12

  • Learners who benefit from exploring mathematics beyond the standard curriculum

  • Students considering STEM pathways in their future studies

Both programs award certificates recognizing students' achievements, which can be valuable additions to their academic portfolios.

How to Register

Registration is simple and can be completed through the Qkr! app. Look for the "Australian Maths Trust Competitions" section to make your payment.
