The Sandy Bay Parish Program of preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation and First Eucharist begins during Term 1, 2025. 

Families of Mount Carmel are invited to consider whether their child or children are ready for this important step on their faith journey.

Generally, we aim the Sacraments from Year 3 level, but we are aware that, for various reasons, some children may have missed the program in previous years. All children, Year 3 and above, who are baptised Catholics, are very welcome to participate, as the program is adaptable to older ages as well.

In 2025, the preparation program looks like this:

Sacrament of Reconciliation

Sunday 2nd March : Welcome Candidates and Families at the 10 am Mass and               Catechesis after the 10am Mass

Sunday 9th March : Catechesis after the 10am Mass

Sunday 16th March :  Catechesis after the 10am Mass

Sunday 23rd March  : Catechesis after the 10am Mass

Tuesday 25th March  : First Reconciliation for Children and Reconciliation for Parishioners, 6.00pm -7.00pm at Holy Spirit Church - 

Sacrament of Confirmation

Sunday 25th May :  Catechesis after the 10am Mass

Sunday 1st June : Catechesis after the 10am Mass

Sunday 8th June : Catechesis after the 10am Mass

Sunday 15th June : Catechesis after the 10am Mass

Sunday 27 July (to be confirmed) : Confirmation Mass at the 10am Mass

First Holy Communion

Sunday 3rd August : Catechesis after the 10am Mass

Sunday 10th August : Catechesis after the 10am Mass

Sunday 17th August : Catechesis after the 10am Mass

Sunday 24th August : Catechesis after the 10am Mass

Sunday 31st August : First Holy Communion Mass at the 10am Mass

The Sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation and First Eucharist follow on from the Sacrament of Baptism. If your child has not yet been Baptised, but they are interested in Baptism, please also contact the Parish Office.
