Pathways

What is Pathways?

Each student in Years 9 and 10 takes part in the College Pathways program during a 50-minute lesson every fortnight.

The Pathways course is designed to help students develop their knowledge and skills required to explore various career options and make informed decisions about their future. It focuses on developing key competencies that can prepare students as they begin their career journeys. Both year levels start by identifying their interests, passions and skills. This will help provide clues on subjects to study and open up future possibilities.

The Year 9 program focuses on:

Knowing yourself, developing key competencies for entering the casual workforce and exploring various career possibilities. The goal is to help students make informed decisions in relation to their future study and career paths.

The Year 10 program focuses on:

Understanding personal interests and abilities, exploring post-Year 10 options, and planning for life after school. Significant effort is put into ensuring a smooth transition for students as they move into 2026 and beyond.

Parents of Year 10 students:

An email titled “Guildford Young College” was sent to parents on 17 February outlining that GYC would like to access parent emails as Mount Carmel is an association school to help improve the transitioning process. If you would like to opt out, we have extended the date until tomorrow, Friday 28 February.
