A Word from the Principal

Megan Richardson

Father in heaven,

may the faith you have given us

in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother,

and the flame of charity enkindled

in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,

reawaken in us the blessed hope

for the coming of your Kingdom.

May your grace transform us

into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.

May those seeds transform from within

both humanity and the whole cosmos

in the sure expectation

of a new heaven and a new earth,

when, with the powers of Evil vanquished,

your glory will shine eternally.

May the grace of the Jubilee

reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope,

a yearning for the treasures of heaven.

May that same grace spread

the joy and peace of our Redeemer

throughout the earth.

To you our God, eternally blessed,

be glory and praise for ever.

Amen

The Year of Jubilee 2025: A Time of Renewal and Grace

As we commence 2025, the Catholic Church invites us to celebrate the Year of Jubilee, a sacred time of renewal, mercy, and grace. Rooted in biblical tradition, the Jubilee is a special period proclaimed by the Church every 25 years, offering a unique opportunity for spiritual growth, reconciliation, and a deepened relationship with God.

Pope Francis has declared the theme for this Jubilee as "Pilgrims of Hope," calling us to walk in faith, rediscover the joy of the Gospel, and embrace the gifts of forgiveness and unity. This sacred year is a time to reflect on our lives, seek reconciliation, and recommit ourselves to the mission of Christ in our communities and the world.

At Mount Carmel Catholic College, we will embrace the Year of Jubilee through prayer, reflection, and acts of service. It is an opportunity for us to grow as a faith-filled community, strengthening our bonds with one another and deepening our connection with God. As we journey through this Jubilee, let us open our hearts to renewal, trust in God's mercy, and become true pilgrims of hope for those around us.

May this Jubilee Year inspire us all to live with faith, hope, and love.

Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. – Luke 6:36

Welcome Back to a New Year!

As we begin 2025, I warmly welcome everyone back to another year at Mount Carmel Catholic College. I hope the holiday break was a time of rest, renewal, and joyful moments with family and friends. A new year brings fresh opportunities, new challenges, and the chance to continue growing together as a strong, faith-filled community. May we step into this year with open hearts, a spirit of gratitude, and a commitment to supporting and uplifting one another in all we do.

Year 10 Leadership: My Page... Our Story

As our Year 10 students step into their leadership roles, they do so with the theme "My Page... Our Story" - a powerful reminder that while each student’s journey is unique, together, they contribute to the greater story of our College community. Leadership is not just about individual success; it is about collaboration, service, and leaving a positive legacy for those who follow. This year, our students will be encouraged to embrace their own strengths, uplift others, and shape a culture of inclusivity, kindness, and excellence. As they write their own pages, they help to create a shared story - one of faith, resilience, and unity.  We look forward to the posters produced in classes and clans representing our 2025 theme, selecting one to visually represent our Year 10’s legacy.

SWPBS and Phone Policy

A reminder that our Behaviour support framework is in place and students have been working closely with teachers to understand expectations and work together to ensure Mount Carmel is a supportive environment where everyone can thrive. We will continue to communicate with families about any changes with a handbook ready later in the year. I congratulate each and every one of our students on their outstanding start to the year; it has been a pleasure to watch students working hard, including others and rising to our high expectations. Thank you also to families for your support in this space as we work together to ensure that respect, resilience, compassion and contribution are at the heart of what we do.
