And to Soman, our incredible cleaner — thank you not only for keeping our school sparkling clean and fresh, but also for taking the time each day to connect with students. Whether it’s a quick chat or a game of basketball, your presence brings joy and connection.
Each and every one of these incredible people contributes to the heartbeat of our school and make our learning environment safe, inclusive, and filled with care. We appreciate our Education Support staff — not just on ES Day, but every single day.
Today was Walk to School Day — and what a wonderful turnout it was!
A huge thank you to all the students, families and staff who participated and supported this fantastic event. Whether you walked from home, joined one of our walking school bus groups, or parked a little further away to complete the journey on foot — your involvement made a difference.
Walk to School Day is more than just a fun morning activity. It’s about promoting healthy habits, reducing traffic congestion, encouraging road safety awareness, and building a stronger sense of community. By walking together, we show our students that making small, active choices can have a big impact — for our health, our environment, and our wellbeing.
We loved seeing the excitement and energy from students as they arrived at school today — smiles on faces, friends walking side-by-side, and a real sense of achievement. These moments help set a positive tone for the day ahead.
A special thank you to our staff and volunteers who helped make this event smooth, safe, and fun for everyone involved. Your support is invaluable.
Let’s keep the momentum going! Consider walking, riding, or scooting to school more often — every active trip counts and remember to wear your helmets riding bikes & scooters. We would also like to remind children to walk their bikes and scooters through the school grounds.
Stay Safe on the Roads.
With so many vehicles around the school, ensuring the safety of all road users—drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and cyclists—is crucial. Here are some key tips and reminders to keep everyone safe.
1. Stay Focused
Distracted driving is a leading cause of accidents. Whether it's texting, adjusting the radio, or chatting with passengers, distractions can have serious consequences. Keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel. If you need to make a call or send a message, pull over safely first.
2. Obey Speed Limits
Speed limits are set for a reason—they’re designed to keep everyone safe. Driving too fast reduces your ability to react to sudden changes in traffic conditions. Remember, speeding not only increases the likelihood of accidents but also intensifies their severity. We all know the traffic around the school is very congested, and it is very important that we adhere to the speed limit of 40kmph. It is also very important that we show patience and care when driving during these peak times.
3. Use Turn Signals
Always signal your intentions when changing lanes or making turns. This simple action informs other drivers of your plans and helps prevent collisions. Clear communication on the road is vital for everyone’s safety. Please avoid making U-turns along Cloverdale Road during morning drop off, and afternoon pick up because it is very unsafe, due to the high volume of traffic. It is much safer to drive around the block during these times.
4. Watch for Pedestrians and Cyclists
Pedestrian and cyclist safety is paramount, especially in urban areas. Always yield the right of way to pedestrians at crossings and keep an eye out for cyclists. When passing, maintain a safe distance to ensure they have room to manoeuvre. When cycling and scooting, we must always wear protective helmets. Avoid double parking.
5. Adjust for Weather Conditions
Rain, snow, fog, and ice can make driving hazardous. Adjust your speed, increase your following distance, and use headlights in poor visibility. Always be prepared for changing conditions, and if the weather is too severe, consider delaying your trip.
6. Stay Informed About Local Traffic Laws
Traffic laws can vary by location. Stay informed about the laws in your area, including new regulations or changes that may affect your driving. Being knowledgeable will help you navigate the roads safely and legally. Please obey the 40km speed restrictions in the school zone to help keep our children safe.
Traffic safety is a shared responsibility contributing to a safer environment for everyone.
Reminder: Pupil-Free Day – May 30
Please note that Friday May 30 is a Pupil-Free Day across the school to allow our teaching staff to complete report writing.
We kindly ask families to make alternative arrangements for care on this day, as there will be no classes or supervision available.
Thank you for your understanding and ongoing support.
