Enhancing Catholic School Identity Survey
Thank you to all those parents who took the time to complete the ECSI survey last week. Your input is very valuable in setting the future direction of our Catholic school and we appreciate your time. The winner of the voucher will be announced on Friday and the extra playtime will be allocated to students within the week.
Introducing Pope Leo - Our new Pope
Last week, the conclave—a special gathering of Cardinals in the Vatican—decided on a new Pope, and we are excited to welcome Pope Leo as the new leader of the Catholic Church!
The process of choosing a Pope is a very old tradition. The Cardinals meet in the Sistine Chapel, pray together, and vote until they agree on the right person for the role. When their decision is made, white smoke appears from the chapel chimney—a sign to the world that we have a new Pope.
Pope Leo now takes on an important job: helping guide the Church, sharing the message of Jesus, and caring for people around the world. We keep him in our prayers as he begins this big responsibility, and we look forward to learning more about him in the weeks ahead.
Cross Country
Congratulations to all of our Cross Country runners who competed in the District Cross Country event last Friday afternoon. Of the almost 60 runners we had, 20 students made it through to the Division Event on Monday 26 May at the same venue. Catherine Wall, the District Coordinator, put a lot of time and energy into organising this event for our Whitehorse District.

Preps 2026
We will commence our Prep 2026 Meet and Greet sessions later this week. It’s a process that I look forward to because this provides me with the opportunity to commence the relationship we will share over the next seven years.
If you have not yet completed an enrolment form for a sibling for next year they may miss out on a place if you do not call the office this week.
Walk to School Day
This Friday 16th May, we’re excited to be participating in Walk to School Day by encouraging all students to start the day with some fresh air and exercise! To help recognise our walkers, staff members and student leaders will be positioned at three key locations from 8:30am to greet students and hand out stamps:
- Corner of Rowan St & Centre Rd
- Corner of Blanche Dr & Centre Rd
- Corner of Frank St & Rowan St (in front of the Kinder)
Student who walk to school will receive a stamp at one of these locations. Each stamp will earn a house team point. Our Sports Leaders will tally the number of walkers in each house colour and this will contribute to overall house points!
We encourage all families to join in and make walking to school part of the fun. Every step counts!
Once students arrive on the school grounds, they can proceed to the basketball court and join in the physical activities led by our House Colour Captains from 8:30am - 8:50am.
MACS Principal Forum
Last Thursday I attended a MACS Principal Forum at the Catholic Leadership Centre in East Melbourne. There were over 250 Principals from Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) in attendance as we heard from our Director, Ed Simons and other MACS leaders.
They presented information regarding the MACS Vision For Learning 2030 which all MACS schools are following. This vision is based on research into the Science of Learning and how we can use teaching strategies that best compliment how our brain learns.
The early focus has been on Vision for Instruction (how we teach students) and the next phase is Vision for Engagement (how we maximise student learning opportunities with minimal disruptions in class to learning time).
MACS leaders also reinforced the importance of the next round of negotiations with state and federal governments regarding equitable funding to our Catholic School System.
FarmYard Update
Over the weekend, we commenced work on demolishing the old chookshed in preparation to lay a concrete slab and build the new chook-shed. In the meantime the chooks will roost in the old goat shed overnight.
When the new chook-house is complete we will be able to purchase a few more chooks which we raised money for late last year.
Thanks to Jo Magnik for her work in managing this project.
