Preps enthralled at the aquarium

Cross Country

Well done Gordon House! And well done all the children who challenged themselves.

Mothers Day

Eady and Esme, Grade 1 - "We made love hearts so when we miss our mums we can press them. We loved having our mums visit"

Michi and Arya, Grade 2 - "We made poems with similes for Mother's Day - our goal was to make our mums cry with happiness!"

Isabel and Frankie, Grade 3 - "We made cards and flowers for our special person. My mum loved hers when I gave it to her"

Prep Aquarium Excursion

"We loved the aquarium. Our favourite animals were the penguins swimming and dipping in the water. We saw a stingray spit out a fish! And we got to pat a starfish. It was really good getting to go home on the bus, we were so tired".

Grade 1-2 highlights

Grade 1 and 2 are getting excited about their excursion to the zoo, happening this term.

Grade 1 have been reading lots of facts about land animals, including that when hippos go under way they close their nostrils and ears; hippopotamus means 'river horse', and hippos are born in the water. Baby giraffes learn to walk 1 hour after they are born, they grow in their mummy's tummies because they are mammals and all giraffes have different patterns on their skin.

Grade 1 made connections to their learning about patterns in Maths, where they learnt that a repeated sequence is known as a pattern's core - So many facts coming from Grade 1 and 2!

Grade 2 have also been busy preparing for Monday's assembly - they have the very important job of launching Reconciliation Week and teaching everyone in our school about this upcoming event.

Hub highlights

Clancy: Next week a real AFL player from Hawthorn is coming. Finn Maginness used to come to BBPS. We get to interview him, so we are busy thinking of lots of different questions.

Tate: I think i have really been improving my writing - we are practising using paragraphs, and I think I am remembering punctuation a lot more.

Annie: My highlight of the week is STEM workshops - its so fun getting to create our own Battle Bot. Last time we designed it, and today we get to start making it. Everyone in the Hub gets a turn.

Check out this week's vocab words in Grade 3, thanks to Olivia and Frankie:

Grade 5/6 highlights

Jake: Doing the daily review helps me with my learning - we get to revisit things that we are learning, and because we see it lots of times I find I am able to remember how to do it.

Pippa: We use our whiteboards a lot to show our thinking - when we hold it up Mrs White can tell us straight away if we can tick it or fix it so I know how I am going.

Josh: Our lessons have an I Do (teacher explains); We Do (we all practice); You Do (I do an extension on my own) structure - the explanations help me know what to do and give clear instructions to follow.

Rose: I have been enjoying writing - we get to reflect on all our learning about First Nations history and the impact of different people on Australia's history.
