What a fantastic fortnight it has been at our school, filled with learning, celebration, and community spirit.
Cross Country Carnival: Students showed great perseverance and sportsmanship as they tackled the course with enthusiasm and determination. Congratulations to everyone who participated and gave their best effort. Well done to Gordon House, who were crowned the 2025 Cross Country Champions. See our Leadership section of the newsletter for the house captains report. Thanks to Mr Ancrum and our parent volunteers.
Mother’s Day Classroom Visits: Students were thrilled to welcome their mums, grandmothers, and special carers into their learning spaces. Students have been busy preparing thoughtful gifts and activities to mark the event. Thank you to all the families who joined us.
Visit from Calm at the Forefront: We were fortunate to have the teaching team from Calm at the Forefront at BBPS again, who led engaging sessions to help our students build their understanding of inclusive language and celebrating diversity. Through stories, discussions, and role play, students explored how their words and actions can build a more supportive and respectful community.
Education Week and Open Classrooms: Education Week was a brilliant celebration of learning. Families had the opportunity to see firsthand the wonderful learning taking place every day. Thank you to everyone who visited.
A special thanks to our feeder kindergarten educators – it was wonderful to have many educators visit our learning spaces to learn more about our program at BBPS and as an opportunity to reconnect with their former students, now in Prep.
Prep: "I wish my kinder teacher could have stayed for longer, I showed them how good I am at writing now"
Grade 1:
"Mrs May played the piano and we showed our mums our best singing voices. They helped us to track the words in our song book"
"My mum didn't know the spelling codes we were learning, I got to teach her about them"
"It was fun having my dad in class, I showed him my writing and he said I use really good words now"
Grade 2:
"We had lots of visitors watching us do our spelling. First they joined us in our morning yarning circle, and some of our visitors got sore knees from having to sit on the floor in a circle! We do it every day!"
The Hub :
"There were lots of mums helping in the Kitchen Garden group - we got our hands dirty and had to replant flowers and vegetables. We have been working on making the soil healthier for growing plants successfully"
Grade 5/6:
"It was nice celebrating our mums last week - lots came and it was extra special as our last celebration at primary school" (Grade 6)
"My mum had to help me invient a balloon popping machine. I really enjoy our weekly Enrichment@BBPS workshops so it was good for mum to see what I keep talking about"
"It was nice to have my mum in class to bounce off ideas for my stop motion animation I'm making in Enrichment@BBPS."
Thank you to our dedicated staff for helping make these events so memorable. And thank you for your kind words after being involved in these events. We appreciate the feedback.
Rotary Readers
Our volunteer readers are back this term, working again with students in Grade 2 and 4. This weekly routine provides our students with further opportunities to read and share text. We thank all 8 of our fabulous volunteers, and look forward to our readers sharing their learning in an upcoming assembly on Monday, June 2.
