Reconciliation Week

Despite the weather challenges of the day, our students managed to plant our new Yakalya (Sorry) Garden, with 25 Hibiscus plants this morning.

Our Yakalya garden is a place of reflection, healing and hope. We acknowledge the injustices of the past and particularly the pain experienced by the stolen generations, whose children were taken from their families, and the communities who continue to feel the impact.

Our Yakalya garden is dedicated to honoring their stories, acknowledging their strength and committing to a future where such harm is never repeated. It is a symbol of our shared journey towards truth healing and reconciliation

Thank you to Ms Stepien, Ms Kayleen and the staff, parents and community members that are part of our Reconciliation Action Plan committee for organising and supporting the development of this important new cultural space within our School.

We also held a Welcome to Country with Uncle Mickey and a reconciliation assembly to celebrate our learning. Thank you to all who attended and supported with these events.
