Your P&C - Fostering cooperation and engagement between parents/carers and school.

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope everyone is having a great week and enjoyed the recent Harmony Day celebrations. A heartfelt thank you to all families who contributed their cultural recipes. Your stories and dishes are a wonderful reflection of the diversity that makes our CPS community so special.

We invite all parents and carers to join our Term 1 Community Morning Tea next Thursday, 2 April, in the school hall. This event is a wonderful opportunity to connect with other families, meet members of the P&C, and strengthen our school community. Free coffee and light refreshments will be provided, and we warmly encourage parents and carers to bring and share food with the community. We look forward to seeing many of you there.

A quick reminder that the CPS P&C membership period finished in February. If you have not yet joined, we encourage you to become a member so you can have a voice and vote on important P&C matters, including financial decisions. You can register here:

https://chatswoodpublicpandc.org.au/member-registration/

Finally, most classes should now have their WhatsApp chat groups up and running. If you are not yet part of your child’s class group and would like to be included, please email Yeddi at classparent@chatswoodpublicpandc.org.au, and she will follow this up for you.

Thank you for your continued support.

Warm regards,

Brian Chiu

Shiratama

By Mira K

  1. Mix: Put Shiratama powder (100g) in a bowl and mix while adding water (about 90ml) little by little.
  2. Knead: Knead firmly until the dough is as soft as the earlobe.
  3. Round: Shape into bite-size balls (about 2cm in diameter). If you hollow them slightly with your fingers in the centre, they will cook more evenly.
  4. Boil: Put the Shiratama in plenty of boiling water.
  5. Wait for it to float up: After a while, the Shiratama will float up (depending on the size, it takes about 2–3 minutes).

Cook point: If all the Shiratama float, continue to boil for another 1–2 minutes. The core will be cooked well and the texture will be chewy.

  6. Pull up: After the Shiratama floats, boil for another 20–30 seconds, then cool them in cold water.
  7. Add fruit, bean paste, syrup as desired.
