From the Principal

Dear Parents, Families, and Members of the St Liborius Community,

WELCOME TO HARMONY WEEK

This week, we celebrate the multicultural nature of Australian society and reaffirm that in our country, our town, and our school, everyone belongs. As a faith community, we recognise this as a reflection of God’s love for all, and of the dignity and worth of every person.

Throughout the week, students will have opportunities to immerse themselves in a variety of cultural experiences designed to deepen their understanding and appreciation of the rich cultural heritage within our school community. Through these experiences, we are invited to learn from one another and to grow in empathy, respect, and gratitude.

At this point in our history, a focus on harmony is essential as we seek to highlight how communities can live, work, and play together in peace. In many ways, this is like changing the algorithm of social media: the more we engage with distressing headlines about war, racism, and violence, the more of them we see. We function in much the same way. As a community, we are called to change our own internal algorithms by intentionally seeking and choosing examples of peace, justice, kindness, and unity, so that we are better equipped to be advocates for a more unified world.

This Harmony Week, we encourage our students and families to be intentional in their words and actions — to reach out, include others, stand against prejudice, and be living signs of God’s peace in our school and beyond. Together, let us seek peace and pursue it.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR STUDENTS

Last weekend marked a very special occasion for many of our students who received the sacraments of Baptism or Confirmation or were officially welcomed into the Church.  It was lovely to see so many members of our community there to support these students and to celebrate the Mass together.
