Assistant Principal Report
Year 9 and 10/Engagement
by Aaron Petersen
Thank you to all the staff, families, and students who have made this term such a success. It is wonderful to reflect on the incredible opportunities our students have embraced. I wish everyone a safe and restful break.
Sporting Superstars and Elite Selections
It has been an extraordinary term for individual sporting success, particularly for Kahsia Lockwood (Year 10). Over the summer months, Kahsia competed in the Southern States Showdown, a premier event in the World Ocean Series spanning Adelaide, Sydney, and Melbourne.
Kahsia emerged as the Series Champion in three distinct categories within the U15 division:
Surf Swim
Board
Iron
This level of consistency and athleticism across multiple states is a testament to her hard work and discipline.
Furthermore, we want to congratulate the following students from Year 9 and 10 who have been selected for the AFL Talent League:
Wade Beattie
Beau MARASCO
Lucas Kitto
Taj Brown
Kahsia Lockwood
Selection into the Talent League is a significant step in the AFL pathway, and we look forward to following their progress on the field throughout the season.

Engineering the Future
Recently, a group of our Year 9 and 10 students attended the ‘Girls Engineering the Skies’ event held at Moorabbin Airport. This was a unique opportunity for our students to connect with women currently leading the way in the aviation industry. The day was packed with hands-on learning, including an aircraft design challenge that saw our students applying physics and engineering principles in real-time. A highlight was the guided tour of the airport, where they got up close with water bombing helicopters and went behind the scenes in the control tower to see the precision required to keep our skies safe.

Opportunities Board
For students looking to take their first steps into the workforce or give back through service, the Opportunities Board is an essential resource. Whether you’re after a casual job, a trainee position, or a volunteer role, this board is the place to go. Our Pathways team is regularly updating it with fresh leads from local employers who are looking to hire our students. I encourage all students to make it a habit to visit the Pathways Office to see what’s new this week—your next big opportunity might be waiting right there.
Kingston Women of the Year
Our school’s commitment to STEM and innovation was further highlighted at the Kingston Women of the Year Awards. It was a proud moment to see our students cheering loudly for our very own Mrs. Julie Mullins. The atmosphere was one of pure joy and celebration. Our students didn't just cheer from the sidelines; in a wonderful display of school spirit, they were invited to join the Mayor and other guests on stage for an impromptu dance. Seeing our students and staff celebrating such a significant achievement with such enthusiasm was a testament to the adaptability of our leaders.
Mrs. Mullins was recognized for her service to education and her passionate support for the next generation of female scientists and innovators. Having our students there to witness their teacher being honoured by the wider community was a powerful reminder of the impact of mentorship and dedication.

Empowering Our Student Voice
Our Student Leader Training Days are held each term and are a cornerstone of our leadership program, specifically designed to support and develop our emerging leaders.
These intensive training days focus on building the practical skills and guidance necessary for students to lead effectively and influence meaningful change within our school. By meeting quarterly, our leaders have the dedicated space to refine their goals, share insights, and collaborate on initiatives that drive positive culture across the entire school community. It is inspiring to see our leaders stepping into these roles with such maturity and vision.
