During Week 6, Gandhi House came together for a House Assembly – and we sure had a lot to celebrate. We looked back on the success so far of Term Three, winning the Interhouse Athletics Carnival and House Week to start the term.
Congratulations to all competitors in Week 4’s House Week competition across Just Dance, the Academic Olympiad and Task Master competitions. These were very tightly contested competitions, and it was great to be a part of all the fun at recess and lunch.
Our ‘Gandhite’s of the Month’ for August were also announced at our House Assembly. Our Junior Gandhite was Ronan O’Halloran for his assistance on First Aid at Gandhi House events and the Senior Gandhite was Luka Bramwell for his leadership across Gandhi House. Thank you to both of these students for their contributions.
To conclude in Term 3, please wish our Battle of the Bands competitors luck as they enter the final week of preparation for the Gandhi Band’s ABBA performance. The students have been working hard on mastering their sections and I cannot wait to see it all come together next Thursday night. Go Gandhi!

I can’t believe we are already at the end of Week 6! The Lincoln Battle of the Bands team has their songs picked and are currently practising hard for the last House event for the year. Despite being part of their own bands, as well as joining in the events of House Week, Science Week and Book Week, these students have given up their recess and lunchtimes and continue to exemplify what it means to be a Lincoln student.
I commend all the Lincoln students who put their best foot forward - taking pride in their House and our school. We are often so busy in the term that we don’t always stop to appreciate the students that do their best to arrive to school on time every morning, who wear their uniform correctly and strive to be their best.
Next week in Extended PCG, students will be participating in PCG-led activities – be that heading into the city to buy lunch or snacks or for an activity. For more information about your child’s PCG activity, please message their PCG tutor.

We are halfway through the term already!
Next week is the Interhouse Battle of the Bands in which the musical talents of our students are celebrated with bands, soloists and groups performing for both parents and teachers. Students from all Houses and years get a chance to showcase what they have been working on this semester. The event also includes the highly competitive House Band competition. Many Mandela students have been practicing around the clock for their performance.
Mandela is blessed to have such a dedicated group of students and I am thankful for their hard work. Good luck to Stella Bain, Zac Balding, Abby Brewer, Alec Farrell, Lawson Forrester, Zuri Hawkins, Hunter Hills, Alisha Hoang, Zara Jones, Sam Ladhams, Amelie McKeon, Chelsy Mison, Finn Turner, Lily Turner-Field, Nick Watt and Alison White. We wish all students in all Houses good luck for the upcoming event.
Preparation for the Mandela Charity Day is also under way. Our charity day is a talent show held on the last day of school at the Perth Town Hall. We will be raising money for a non-profit organisation. Students have been auditioning and all acts have been fantastic - it has been difficult for Wil Moesker our House Captain and I to decide who will go through to the big stage. Thank you to all students who had a go at auditions and congratulations to those chosen.
