Year 10 camp

I am excited to share some key opportunities and reminders for both Year 9 and 10 students as we head towards the end of this term.

But first, let's hear from one of our participants on last week's Year 10 camp:

Year 10 camp was one of our best yet! We had so much fun participating in activities - be it a mud fight, zipline, abseiling or building and riding billy carts. While camp was so much fun it was also a bittersweet reminder that it was our last, definitely the end of an era.

Some of our funniest highlights include everyone struggling to stay on their feet on our hike, getting covered in mud and even falling into rivers. It was also funny as we watched everyone attempt to dance before we began our activities and who could forget the heated basketball games between the adults and students? We got to watch movies, have a quiz night, play card games and even some of the braver students went on a 10.5 km run with Ms Tagore and Ms Scheele at 5 o'clock in the morning. Year 10 camp was one that we will never forget - making memories that will last us all a lifetime and a great conclusion to our high school camp experience.

Year 9: Sleep Out on the Roof, Friday, 30 August

This is a fantastic opportunity for Year 9 students to engage in Service Learning while stepping out of their comfort zones. Whether it is their first time, or they have done it before, a sleepout experience allows them to bond with their peers. Our sleepout on the roof promotes empathy and social growth while providing a unique chance for students to challenge themselves in a new yet familiar setting.

In addition, I encourage our Year 9 students to maintain a strong work ethic, particularly as assessments approach. Consistent, daily revision is key to success—far more effective than cramming the night before a test. Let’s keep up the momentum and build positive study habits.

Year 10:  Time to focus

Our recent camp was an excellent experience, with each student embracing activities that tested them in unique ways. It was wonderful to see the group supporting each other and making the most of the challenges.

As we look ahead, the focus shifts to fine-tuning the small details, which are crucial for success in all subjects. I urge our Year 10 students to remain diligent in their efforts, consistently working across all subjects in preparation for Year 11. Remember, sustained effort and attention to detail now will make all the difference as they move into their senior years. Let’s keep pushing forward with positivity and determination.
