Trading Game
Starting this week Mr Gray has been teaching students how to trade without any screens in a fast-paced card game. We have had three tutorials thus far with one more on Friday. Students are learning the trading lingo, such as "MINE", "YOURS", bid, and offer.
While playing students are encouraged to devise the best strategy to win the overall competition. Next week the competition will start for real, and students will be trading to win one of 3 prizes: first place - a $50 'Ultimate Teens' voucher, second place - a $20 canteen voucher, and third place - a $10 canteen voucher.
Murdoch University Speakers
On Thursday, 22 August, both the year 11 ATAR and year 12 general economics classes were treated to seminars from guest speakers from Murdoch University discussing what game theory is and how it relates to the real world. During this seminar students played multiple games and used logic to get the best outcome, also it explained how similar scenarios play out in the real world, such as: "Why do all fast-food restaurants seem to always be near each other?"
Year 11 Dinner Dance
On Friday 16 August, Trinity College’s Year 11 students, their beautiful dates and their Pastoral Care Leaders attended the annual Dinner Dance at Beaumonde on the Point. While the weather was cold and blustery, this was not the case inside the venue, as the students entered with enough poise and glamour to rival the red carpet at the Academy Awards.
After their much-anticipated arrival, compliments on each other’s outfits and photographs by the professional photographer, the fun really began. The students were firstly well-fed by the wonderful caterers and Beaumonde, and then they hit the dance floor – overseen by the incredible TC Old Boys now known as DJ Primz. There was singing and dancing to rival a Taylor Swift concert and while those who shouted loudly and jumped up and down with immense vigor, another group of students were quietly dancing in a corner, complete with headphones in the cleverly orchestrated silent disco.
For those who weren’t into dancing or singing, the ladies from Born to Sparkle spent time creating pieces of glittery art on the faces of all who were interested. This certainly created some interesting conversation and colourful additions to the suits of our young men.
The night came to an end very quickly, and while there were plenty of weary bodies, tired feet and smudged glitter, the Year 11 PC Leaders were incredibly proud to farewell the remarkable group of young people who they had just spent the last few hours celebrating with. Congratulations to the boys and their dates for creating an amazing atmosphere at one of the best socials TC has had in a very long time.
