VOCABULARY
Explanation texts
A non-fiction text which describes how or why things happen.
Key features of explanation texts:
- Purpose: To explain how something functions or why an event occurs, often providing reasons and details.
- Structure: They typically follow a logical order, starting with the defining statement to the topic, followed by a description of the topic then a step-by-step explanation, and concluding with a summary or final comment.
Language: Uses clear, straightforward language and often includes definitions, examples, and sometimes diagrams or illustrations to help understanding.
