Year 7 & 8 Self Portraits

Our school library is delighted to team with BHS Art department to celebrate our junior art students and their achievements across the school.   We encourage staff and students to check out our new gallery space in our school library. 

Each Term, our Year 7 and 8 Art students begin their Art journey by creating a self-portrait, exploring a variety of drawing techniques that provide them with the skill and confidence to make and explore.   

For our current display of artworks, Drawing Portraits, our Year 7 and 8 students were invited to create a self-portrait based on their understanding of observational drawing skills and the proportions of the face/human head.  Students applied the grid technique to transfer their photographic source image to a hand drawn sketch. They then applied a variety of drawing techniques exploring pattern and tone to create a sense of form and individuality.
