Food Technology Update

Year 8 students have been busy making scones in Food Technology, and we hope some of these delicious treats have made it home for you to try! Throughout this activity, students have been exploring recipe use, selecting the correct equipment, and maintaining a strong focus on hygiene and safety practices. During their double session, they observed a teacher demonstration and then worked in teams to create their own scones. The highlight for many was enjoying their freshly made scones with jam and cream. They also have been working on a breakfast on the go project. Students learnt 4 different ways to be able to use eggs and had the choice of what breakfast they wanted to make. Many opted for a breakfast wrap with bacon and tomatoes.

Year 9 students have been delving into Australian Cuisine. They began by making damper and taste-testing Indigenous herbs and spices. This week, they took on the challenge of making the classic Aussie treat—Lamingtons. This practical involved following a two-part recipe with multiple ingredients, testing their skills in aeration and mechanical raising as part of their food science exploration. The students certainly enjoyed the fruits of their labor when they finished!
