From the

Leader of Year 11 Wellbeing

Mr Peter Robertson

Coming to the end of Year 11 at St Aloysius College Cronulla, students now reach the pivotal stage of schooling. It marks accumulating years of academic and personal growth, with students feeling both excited and apprehensive. They face the challenge of their Preliminary exams, balancing the transition into Year 12, and preparing for possible early entry into university.

This time is filled with memorable experiences such as the upcoming Social and the Winter Sleepout, and at the same time making crucial decisions about our future. This year has been about planning for our next step coming into the HSC, however, it’s also time to reflect on the past achievements of our educational journey. Preparing for the next chapter is something that students all around Australia are experiencing- change is a universal human experience that is never easy but in my personal experience, the teachers and close friends at St Aloysius make the switch to the HSC less intimidating.

Year 11 is a unique blend of celebrating our past successes and transitioning into our most important stage of learning. One teacher who provides insights on the systematic opportunities of Year 12 for students across the cohort is Mrs Kennedy. She has continuously set up meetings with students to plan for the best possible pathways for each individual, whether that be TAFE, an apprenticeship, full time work or a particular tertiary course. I highly recommend this to all my peers if they have not yet had the chance to think hard about their goals, options and aspirations.

The period of Year 11 Leadership applications is occurring now, with the different positions ( including captains and vice captains ) soon to be decided. With so much happening in preparation for our last year of school at St Aloysius, Year 11 reminds us of what we have been through and what we are about to begin.
