Homeless Awareness Day

On Friday, 23 August twelve Lasallian Youth Leaders from Year 11 worked with Year 6 students from St Aloysius primary school. The students presented facts and figures about the plight of the homeless in Australia through a variety of interactive activities. In the final session the students designed an art installation out of materials that the homeless would use to keep warm.  These were later displayed around the school to raise students' curiosity to stop and find out more. The Lasallian students were outstanding in their commitment to the presentation of the day and also ensuring that the primary school students had a wonderful experience.

Year 7 Homeless Day

The reflection day will be held at the College and will be an opportunity for the students to participate in our annual raising awareness of the plight of the homeless.

When: Tuesday, 3 September

Where: College Hall

Time: 8:35am - 2.50pm

Dress: Mufti

What to bring: Items for breakfast packs

The students are invited to create breakfast packs with their friends.  They will need to bring ONE of the following items to help pack these:

  1. Cereal - Weetbix
  2. Muesli bars
  3. Mini long life milks

The students will be led by the Year 11 Lasallian Youth Leaders in developing a greater understanding of the plight of homelessness in Australia. They will participate in activities that will raise their awareness and help promote this throughout the College.

The breakfast packs that the students create will then support One Meal which is a not-for-profit organisation that assists the vulnerable in our local community. The College currently regularly volunteers at the Miranda and Cronulla service. These breakfast packs will provide an essential meal for families, many of whom now are caring for young children.
