Reflection

On Sunday, 1 September we celebrate Fathers’ Day. In the commercialised world in which we live, it is an opportunity to pause and give thanks for our fathers, for the many blessings they have brought to our lives. The greatest gift we can give to our Father on this day (and each day of the year), is time. Time to be in their presence, time to listen to their stories and wisdom, time to appreciate the love and support they have given us throughout their lives. And for those fathers who have been called to God, it is an opportunity to pause and give thanks for the impact, influence and love they have and continue to bring into our lives.

We especially remember in our prayers the fathers and grandfathers of our St Aloysius community who are sick, that God will always keep them in his loving embrace.

Happy Father's day.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for the gift of a father

Who has been an inspiration

Through his love and dedication.

Just as you sent your son to show the world

Your love for us as a father,

We pray that you will send your spirit upon fathers

That they may be strengthened as they strive to

Guide and support their family.

Amen.
