Week 7 & 8 Updates

Spanish

¡Hola familias!

Please SAVE THE DATE for our upcoming Spanish Fiesta. We cannot wait to celebrate with you all!

Performing Arts

Grade 5/6 students have been preparing their performances for the upcoming school production. Cant wait for you to see them!

Grade 4 students have finished recording and filming their music videos for the Dream Big Youth Music Festival as part of RuOK? Day. The links to the live stream event will be shared soon.

All students have been enjoying a variety of fun drama games. A couple of favourites have been 'Yes, No, Banana, Please', 'Looks Can Kill' and 'Giants, Wizards and Goblins'. These have been great in getting students to engage and collaborate with their peers.

STEM

What a massive few weeks in STEM! A big shout out to the parent helpers who supported our whole-school Science Week event. We couldn't have done it without you! See below for some pictures from the day, including photos of our Grade 6's extracting DNA from strawberries!

Congratulations to Bentley for winning the Mario Kart FUSE Cup competition for our region! It was a very tough competition but our team showed great resilience and care for one another with Bentley earning the top spot! Well done!

Students in Prep - Grade 2 have been writing algorithms for Beebots. Robots cannot think for themselves - they need a set of instructions to follow called an algorithm! Check out some photos below. Grade 3-4 students have also been learning about algorithms and have practised making flowcharts (visual algorithms). Students in Grade 5 and 6 have been learning about the importance of user interface design and have critiqued the usability of a range of websites. This will help to inform their decisions for next term when they design their own websites!

Long Service Leave Update

I wanted to let you know that I will be on Long Service Leave for the rest of the term.

During this time, the young artists at our school will be in the capable hands of Miss Kylie. I’ve left some exciting projects for the students to get stuck into, and I’m confident they’ll continue to create wonderful artwork while I’m away.

I look forward to seeing all the amazing work they’ll produce when I return!

Warm regards, Aasta
