We continue to be super busy in the art room preparing amazing artwork to show case at our upcoming Art Show in October. We are working on so many fun pieces of art using paint, textiles, nature…. there are too many to list! It will be a must-see event. There will be more information to follow as we get closer to the event so keep your eye peeled. All grades are also busy finishing up their Crazy Camel pictures. There will be more information on this soon.
The Grade Preps are working on pieces to add to our botanical display in the art show. We have taken sticks from nature and wrapped them in crazy colours. The preps loved this activity and showed amazing concentration. I think they will making a great addition to our display.
The Grade 1’s are also working on the botanical theme and will continue their botanic portraits. We also created beautiful wattle tree blooms using pom poms to create the delicate yellow flowers.
The Grades 2’s are creating some magical fairy gardens using recycled materials found in the art room. They have been very creative and are thinking ‘outside the box’ when it comes to the materials they can use.
The Grade 3’s & 4’s surprised themselves when they had a go at creating botanical sketches using pen and tracing paper. They had so much fun that they asked to make several art pieces. I can’t wait to show these when they are complete!
The Grade 5/6’s are working hard to put the finishing touches on their 3D papier mâché creations. They have done an amazing job and it has taken many, many weeks to complete. I’ve attached some photos for a sneak peak.
Warm Regards,
Marcia Evans

Sports Update
Hockey
On Monday, August 12th, our Boys/Mixed and Girls hockey teams travelled to Footscray Hockey Club to compete in the Western Metropolitan Region finals. Competing against eight other schools, both teams showcased outstanding skills and determination. Reaching this level is an incredible achievement, and we congratulate them on their phenomenal seasons. You've already made everyone at Willy Primary incredibly proud!
Netball
What a fabulous day our Willy Primary Girls Netball Team had, competing at the Regional Championships in Geelong recently.
Representing the Hobsons Bay Division, the girls played 8 games across the day, winning 5 of them in a hotly contested competition. The spirit in which the girls took to the court for every game was incredible, and it certainly took a team effort to play to such a high standard for every game.
It was wonderful to see the growth of the girls as individual players throughout the District, Divisional and Regional competitions, and even more rewarding to see them combine as a team on the day.
Our Willy Kid values shone through throughout the day and we were very proud of the way the girls represented our school. Congratulations girls!!!
