STEM – Term 3, Week 4 & 5

Last week in STEM, Preps explored different clouds. They then drew a picture of an outside scene and used cotton wool to create their clouds.

Grade 1/2s compared day and night and learnt how the moon can also appear in the day sky.

Grade 3/4s explored the different layers of the Earth – crust, mantle, outer core, inner core – and used Play-Doh to create a diagram to show these.

Grade 5/6s started researching about different volcanoes.

This week, Preps explored the weather and looked at what can be worn and done in different weather situations.

Grade 1/2s looked at different weather symbols to describe the weather.

Grade 3/4s completed a mind map about the different types of weathering.

Grade 5/6s continued their research on different volcano types.

MUSIC NEWS TERM 3 WEEK 5

Hello everyone,

We made a great start this week to our auditions for Gray St’s Got Talent. Thank you to all the students who were brave enough to try out – we congratulate you!

If you haven’t auditioned yet, but would like to, auditions will be held again, not next week, because our Music Captains will be at swimming, but the week after. So, use the next week to practice LOTS!

In the past two weeks in Music, our Preps worked with high and low sounds.

The 1/2s explored sound categories, composed rhythms, and played along with the Surprise Symphony.

The 3/4s continued to work with musical pictures. They composed music to go with a soundboard, and they created movement to tell a story to music.

Our 5/6s played all sorts of music with all sorts of instruments!
